British Muslims extend their congratulations to Ummah and Pilgrims on a safe Hajj
Published in 17.11.11

The Association of British Hujjaj (Pilgrims) UK (ABH), a National Hajj specific organisation working for the welfare and wellbeing of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims, congratulates the Muslim Ummah and millions of pilgrims from all over the world on performing a safe Hajj this year. The Muslim community expresses its delight and satisfaction that there have been no major incidents or tragedies reported during this year’s Hajj.

“All the credit goes to King Abdullah, The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for all their hard work and providing the highest level of services to ensure the safety and welfare of the Guests of Allah (SWT).”, said Khalid Pervez, General Secretary of ABH.

In the past, the pilgrims had been suffering from significant difficulties and hardships due to ignorance and lack of awareness of pre-travel Health & Safety precautions. They were also not fully aware about the importance of good preparation for the journey to perform the safest Hajj & Umrah in the best possible manner.

It is vital that all concerned countries must take appropriate action towards the welfare and wellbeing of the pilgrims and make every effort to promote an awareness culture amongst their prospective pilgrims. Lessons must be learned from past experiences and training programs should be made mandatory for these prospective pilgrims to perform a safe Hajj & Umrah.

Luxury hotels in Mecca were full for Hajj
Luxury hotels around the Grand Mosque in Mecca were running full for this year's Hajj despite hundreds of new rooms opening. "Makkah Hilton & Towers were a sell-out for the month surrounding Hajj," said Shuja Zaidi, the hotel's general manager and vice president for Hilton Worldwide projects in Saudi Arabia. "We had expected rates to be lower than in 2010 due to the increased supply of hotel rooms in and around the Haram." But demand exceeded supply and rates remained "in line" with last year.
