During a news conference at the Press Information Department, Pakistan's Minister for Religious Affairs, Mr. Syed Hamid Saeed Kazmi has announced the Hajj policy for this year. He declared that 160,000 pilgrims will perform Hajj under government and private schemes this year.
The minister said an overall 19 per cent augmentation has been added to the Hajj package this year .Thus, the pilgrim will have to pay Rs226,000 to get a flight from Karachi and Quetta, while those from other stations will pay Rs238,000.
He announced that the ministry started receiving Hajj applications under the government scheme from June 10th. Kazmi said that there are no special quota and the pilgrims are selected 100 per cent through ballot under the government scheme. “Hajj applications of pilgrims who has performed Hajj during the last five years are not to be allowed except in three cases which are: Mahram of a woman who did not perform Hajj, as a group leader and Hajj Badal,”.
The minister announced that the Computerized national identity cards or national identity cards for overseas Pakistanis are mandatory for this year’s Hajj.
