27 countries will receive sacrificial meat

The President of Islamic Development Bank Group, Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Ali, said today that the Saudi Project for Utilization of the Sacrificial Meat for this year's Hajj, ended on Friday with the slaughter of more than 931,000 heads of sheep and 2,409 camels and cows.

He disclosed that the distribution of the meat to pilgrims and the poor in the vicinity of the Holy Mosque of Makkah began on the first day of the blessed Eid Al-Adha, and noted that quantities of sacrificial meat will be shipped to 27 countries, including Pakistan,  in the upcoming weeks.

Luxury hotels in Mecca were full for Hajj
Luxury hotels around the Grand Mosque in Mecca were running full for this year's Hajj despite hundreds of new rooms opening. "Makkah Hilton & Towers were a sell-out for the month surrounding Hajj," said Shuja Zaidi, the hotel's general manager and vice president for Hilton Worldwide projects in Saudi Arabia. "We had expected rates to be lower than in 2010 due to the increased supply of hotel rooms in and around the Haram." But demand exceeded supply and rates remained "in line" with last year.
