Higher official Saudi authorities have given their instructions to conduct researches to the Council of Senior Islamic Scholras to study the feasibility of a new pilgrims city north Mina. This new city will be able to accommodate 1.5 million pilgrims during the Hajj season.
Mr.Habib Zain Al-Abidine , the deputy minister of municipal and rural affairs estimated the costs of this project to be 30 SR billions and said that “There are two options. Either to construct substantial buildings or set up tents that are modernly designed”
He added to say that the new city project would require five years to be completed and that it will enable the Saudi government to offer the opportunity to more pilgrims both from the Kingdom and from worldwide to participate in the annual Hajj.
Mr.Habib Zain Al-Abidine declared that the plans of the three new projects which are worth SR1.4 billion would be presented to higher authorities for approval. These projects include the construction of toilets and car parks in the holy sites and the shifting of slaughterhouses outside Mina.
The minister added to say that they have no plans to change the shape of the trains because their shapes have been selected in accordance with scientific studies and international standards and that the train’s transport capacity is more than 150.000 pilgrims. The train links the cities of Mecca, Medina, Arafat and Muzdalifa.
Al-Abidine declared that the costs of the railway project were more than SR6 billion and that He the new railway would serve domestic pilgrims in its first phase .
