The Hajj Committee in the Chamber of Commerce and industry of Makkah said that 240 companies were granted license to provide their services to the domestic pilgrims.
According to Saad Al-Qurashi, the Chairman of the HaJJ committee, those companies proved full respect of the conditions required by the Saudi Hajj Ministry. He added that, although some hotels were demolished and new projects are being implemented, the accommodation sector suffers no problems and ready to host the pilgrims.
Al-Qurachi emphasized that the Hajj Ministry imposed a number of criteria on the companies before granting them licenses. The criteria include guaranteeing pilgrims’ security and safety so that they can perform Hajj in serenity and peace. He also pointed out that the Saudi authorities will put at the disposal of Allah’s Guests a new railway network in the Holy Sites of Arafat, Muzdalifa and Mina during this Hajj season, to reduce the everlasting problem of traffic congestion. The Chairman of the Hajj Committee said that 12 trains will operate this year to serve 130 thousand pilgrims ( from the Kingdom and the GCC countries), expecting the income of the new rail network to reach 11.7 million Saudi riyals.
Besides, in preparation of the Hajj season, the concerned authorities are insisting on putting Makkah’s hospitals at the pilgrims’ disposal.

"We had expected rates to be lower than in 2010 due to the increased supply of hotel rooms in and around the Haram." But demand exceeded supply and rates remained "in line" with last year.
