It is expected that the number of the Prophet’s Mosque visitors during the holy month of Ramadan, will attain unprecedented levels. The Presidency of the Affairs of the Holy Mosques has prepared an intensive plan to receive them and ensure their well-being.
1,970 skilled and unskilled workers including engineers and technicians will be at the pilgrims’ disposal at the Prophet’s Mosque to guarantee the cleanliness of the mosque and offer different services.
The entire mosque is equipped with air conditioners providing pilgrims with cool and fresh air, and six lifts to enable them to go up and down from the first floor.
The two sections dedicated to women include separate toilets (kept clean around the clock) and can accommodate more than 500000 women.
Pilgrims can have access to the Prophet’s mosque through 85 fully guarded gates which are guarded by 400 workers.
Moreover, gates in Women’s sections are supervised by 50 female guards who have been ordered to prohibit food inside the mosque except Saudi coffee and tea.
A number of religious scholars has been appointed to teach visitors how to perform prayers in accordance with Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad ( peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Sermons in small groups will be held at 11.30am, after Asr prayer and between Maghreb and Isha prayers.
Also, at women’s sections, female scholars will give sermons on Islam in a number of languages.
Under the orders of King Abdullah, an area of 30,500 sq. meters has been covered with sunshades to protect pilgrims from the unbearable heat and the dangers of rain.
